Rusty Shears is a self catering gite in the South West of France. The 1830’s traditional stone farmhouse & barn is situated on the top of the plateau above the Lot Valley, in the heart of the Cahors vineyards. Set in 5 acres of meadows & walnut orchards our house has been lovingly restored to offer a peaceful and relaxing stay amongst nature in the countryside. With exclusive use of a private patio with large spa hot tub, shaded dining area, bbq, sunbeds and comfy seating perfect for aperitifs.

LIVING

The barn is open plan with a fully fitted kitchen & breakfast bar. Dining table, two comfy sofas & armchair in the living area with TV. Two double bedrooms with two luxurious bathrooms. There is an open fire & cental heating for winter. Super fast fibre broadband for remote working.

OUTDOORS

Exclusive use of the patio area, where you’ll find a large Hot Tub, sun loungers, large sofa with the option of an umbrella to protect you from the midday sun. A BBQ is available with all the tools and a dining table for you to enjoy your feast.

PET FRIENDLY

Rusty Shears is very dog and pet friendly, the outside area of the Gite is well protected with panelling, that will keep you dog secure, although a cat would be able to climb the fence.

There are plenty of walks nearby, with public footpaths accessible directly from the Gite. We also have plenty of land where you can throw the ball!

Wow! What a place to stay!A beautiful gite inside and out. The time, energy and thought put into making this gite an unforgettable stay is incredible. Kirstie and Russell are just delightful hosts. They are so friendly and very keen to make sure you have a very comfortable and memorable stay. It’s home from home. Every little detail is well thought out. Loved the decor, very chic with 2 gorgeous bathrooms. Very clean inside and out and so pretty. Kirstie cooks if you don’t want to cook which is a huge added bonus. We loved feeding the chickens and the horse in the field opposite every day, that was just magical. Russell has lots of recommendations on where to go, what to do and where to eat, just ask he's very helpful. We have left Rusty Shears feeling very relaxed and stress free. Highly recommend to stay at this gite, you wont regret it. Really appreciated the welcome pack of fresh bread, homemade plum jam, cakes, fresh veg and lovely bottle of red wine, so kind. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. Sarah, Barrie & Morgan xxx

This is my second visit to the beautiful ‘Rusty Shears gite’ hosted by Kirstie & Russell. From the outset our stay was just perfect. We were made very welcome and even had welcome drinks upon arrival. This was a special visit for my mums birthday and Kirstie even baked a cake, which was absolutely delicious. The gite is immaculately presented and the interior is simply gorgeous, with sumptuous cushions, uniquely bespoke painted furniture & house plants that compliment the gite’s luxurious eclectic style. The outside space is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine and listening to the nature that surrounds the outside space. They have thought of everything; an outside eating area, complete with overhead sails to stay in the shade, corner sofa area complete with parasol to stay in or out of the shade, a bbq area with small outside prep area, hot tub and even 4 sun loungers. The location is set in the countryside so expect to drive or cycle to the local vineyards and restaurants but rest assured Kirstie & Russell can recommend plenty of places of interest and even arrange cycle hire or restaurant bookings if preferred. All in all a really tranquil long weekend away that offered us plenty of tasty local food, vineyard visits, rest and relaxation in the sunshine. If you’re an animal lover then you’ll also appreciate Kirstie’s love of animals too and if you’re lucky you’ll get to taste a freshly laid egg from ’Cluckingham palace!’A truly wonderful space & warm welcome that will encourage you to return.A gem of a holiday find - we will definitely be going back soon! Thank you Kirstie & Russell for your hospitality during our stay at Rusty Shears gite and for making great memories!

I enjoyed a wonderful stay at Rusty Shears with friends. The hosts Kirstie and Russell have thought of everything and are on hand if you need anything at all.Beautiful decor, spacious living area and bedrooms. Comfortable beds and powerful showers. The patio and outdoor area is also lovely with great views across surrounding land. The gite is in a lovely peaceful location, but close to historic towns if you like to explore. We also went on a fantastic local wine tasting experience recommended by Russell.100% recommend Rusty Shears for a perfect French break.

Completely loved our stay at RustyShears, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the brilliant hosts, Russel and Kirsty, whose hospitality truly made our stay unforgettable.First and foremost, let's talk about the unique building and grounds of RustyShears. Nestled in the midst of stunning countryside, the property itself is a work of art. The charming Gite, beautifully restored with meticulous attention to detail, is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. It's evident that Russel and Kirsty have poured their hearts into creating a space that feels both cozy and luxurious. The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by the inviting atmosphere and stylish decor. Every corner of the Gite is thoughtfully designed, with tasteful furnishings and elegant touches that make you feel right at home. From the comfortable beds to the well-appointed kitchen, every aspect of the accommodation exceeded our expectations. Our highlights included exploring the amazing French countryside, visiting small towns, villages and vineyards then returning to the true oasis of tranquillity that is Rusty Shears. Perfect for leisurely strolls or simply relaxing amidst the natural beauty. Whether enjoying a morning coffee on the patio or unwinding with a glass of wine as the sun sets, the peaceful ambiance of the surroundings was truly rejuvenating.Loved all the different breeds of chickens and couldn’t fault their 5 star Cluckingham Place accommodation, maybe who knows, that’s why the eggs tasted so good 😊Of course, none of this would have been possible without the exceptional hospitality of Russel and Kirsty. From offering valuable local tips to ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our stay, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their warmth and friendliness added an extra layer of charm to our experience. In conclusion, our stay at Rusty Shears was nothing short of perfect. With its unique building and grounds, beautifully decorated and furnished Gite, and the incomparable hospitality of Russel and Kirsty, it's a destination that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable getaway. We can't wait to return!

We enjoyed a wonderful short break at Rusty Shears. Not only are the interior fixtures and fittings superb quality and beautiful, they’re comfortable too! We slept brilliantly. The cottage was snug and warm with a lovely wood burning stove that kept the place comfortable all night despite a heavy frost outside. The location is really quiet with lots of beautiful countryside, vineyards and pretty villages all around. And the hosts were very warm and welcoming.

What a hidden gem with wonderful hosts. The gite is in a wonderful and private setting, the standard of finish is exceptionally good and tasteful. Well equipped and comfortable. The private terrace is large, tastefully arranged and is an ideal and attractive spot for both outside dining, relaxing and enjoying your croissant and coffee in the morning!
